Janet Van Fleet is a very popular and well known Vermont Artist who has received numerous awards and recognition in the ten years she has devoted herself full-time to art. As a founding member of Studio Place Arts, a non-profit community center for visual arts in Barre, Vermont, she has also had tremendous impact in creating the rich artistic atmosphere that is central Vermont now enjoys. Janet's work is prolific and varied. She is a very accomplished painter but she also creates an interesting range of sculptures, including whimsical found object critters, animated teapots (non-functional), framed and suspended buttons, mobiles, and various uses of fabric and metal. In addition to creating art, Janet has used her background as professional teacher to help young artists with their education and careers. Her art teaching and mentoring work includes activities with the Art Institute of Boston, Goddard College, Spaulding High School, and Studio Place Arts. |
