Wendy has a BA in Art Education and has been teaching art at Essex High School in Vermont since 1979. As her children have left home, she has mad the shift from teacher to teacher/artist. With dreams as her inspiration, she combines negatives together to create surreal, other worldly photomontages. Her dreamscapes are often haunting, serene, or magical and are created from photographs she has collected over the last twenty-five years. Wendy has also recently expanded her artistic horizons by becoming a painter. Using her photographic eye, her keen sense of humor, and her rose colored glasses, Wendy paints a world that is both interesting and cheerful. Coupled with her sharp eye and dexterous hand, she has found remarkable success as a painter very quickly. In the brief amount of time that she has been exhibiting her work, she has found constant recognition, including being selected for a profile in Black and White Magazine (Oct 2008); winning 3rd place in the 2008 Burlington Art's Alive show; winning the Horace Eldred Award for photography in both 2004 and 2005; and winning the 2005 Photography Exhibitor Award at the For Art's Sake" show at the Helen Day Arts Center in Stowe, Vermont. She has also participated in several solo and juried group shows throughout Vermont. |
