Bio

Mary Jo is primarily a self-taught artist whose sculpture-making skills developed from her interests in sewing and crafting.  She began a serious effort at a commercial art career during her co-ownership of an art gallery in Montpelier, Vermont.  Since the gallery's closing, she has continued to create her mostly food-inspired sculpture.  Using colorful playful fabrics, she has developed a portfolio of work that pays homage to Claus Oldenburg, Andy Warhol, Marcel Duchamp, and Judy Rosenberg.

Although she always enjoys studying art, her college education focused on the sciences. Mary Jo holds a degree in Mechanical Engineering from Cornell University, and a degree in Energy Mangement and Policy from the University of Pennsylvania.  Her art studies have included college-level studies in sculpture and pottery.
